Restoration Efforts

The Historic Columbian Cemetery has proved resilient despite the toll of time and vandalism. In recent years, numerous monuments have been restored due to the generosity of the Portland Development Commission. The grant that provided monument repair also restored the historic gazebo.

The gazebo retained most of the original structure, replacing only wood that was no longer viable. The lattice, which was not original to the structure, was removed to open up the structure as a focal point in the cemetery.
